When they revealed the next conan's hint is coin, i looked back at the "death" character at the scenes and thought of something.. maybe the "death" character on both scenes actually were not written by anyone.. if you looked closely at the first case scene (the one that kudo yusaku investigated) at 0:35, the middle part of the character may come from the flower (you can see there are some of it that has spherical shape) and considering previous conan's hint is candy, maybe the other circular shape of the character was somehow caused by the candies (maybe the boy dropped the candies when trying to put the flowers beside the corpse)..and that's probably how yusaku knew and even guaranteed that it was not a murder

as for the second case, maybe after he bought the beer, he fell ill because of the variceal rupture and the blood from his mouth dropped on top of his coins and the cigarette..and then someone stole the coins, making the "death" character to appear..i think this is the case because inspector megure said that this is a robbery case immidiately after seeing the "death" character.
